Health Services Mission

In the spirit and memory of all our relations who walked before us; We the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians, Health Services are dedicated toward a healthy community. A community in which all of its members enjoy and benefit from the gifts of medicine provided by the Creator. To help us be better human beings. MenoMushkeke “Good Medicine” that incorporates the integration of Western Medicine with Traditional Indian Medicine. It is the mission of Health Services to further advance the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians community to:

  • An Improved Health Status
  • An Increased Life Expectancy

*All direct care services are available to Tribal Members, descendants, or a member of any Federally Recognized Tribe. The nine county service area includes Manistee, Mason, Wexford, Lake, Oceana, Newaygo, Kent, Muskegon, and Ottawa.

Health Clinic Services

Family Physician on staff for direct care. Staff includes a Registered Nurse and a Medical Assistant.

Community Health Nurse/Diabetic Educator.
Community Health Representatives (CHR). These employees are out in the nine county service area performing home visits to Tribal Members and transporting clients for medical purposes only.

Individualized support

Fitness Center

A Fitness Center has been established in the Lower Level of the Government Center in Manistee. It provides supervised workout equipment such as treadmills, exercise bikes and weights. The center is open to tribal members and employees of both the government and the Little River Casino Resort. The Fitness Center is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
