Members Assistance Mission:
To strengthen and secure maximum independence for individuals and family members of the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians by providing assistance services that meet the needs of the community.

Program Descriptions

  • Low Income Energy Assistance Program

This program is to provide short term assistance to Tribal members who are experiencing an energy crisis and meet the program eligibility guidelines. Assistance is available in all states.

  • LIHEAP - Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program

This is a D.H.H.S. grant funded program available to assist Tribal members experiencing heating and energy crisis and meet the program eligibility guidelines. This program is available to members residing in the nine county service areas of Kent, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Ottawa and Wexford.

  • Food Assistance Program

This program provides short term assistance to low income members who are experiencing a food or dietary need crisis and meet the program eligibility guidelines. Assistance is available in all states.

  • Rental and Mortgage Program

This program is to provide short term assistance to Tribal members who are experiencing a housing crisis and meet the program eligibility guidelines. Assistance is available in all states.

  • Well and Septic Program

This program provides new or renovation sanitation facilities (Well and/or Septic) to homeowners in need of assistance and meet the program eligibility guidelines. Assistance is seasonal and limited to available funding. This program is available to members residing in the nine county service areas of Kent, Lake, Manistee, Mason, Muskegon, Newaygo, Oceana, Ottawa and Wexford.

  • Elder Meal Program (Title VI)

This program provides nutrition, social interaction and supportive services to Tribal Elder Members. The service will be provided at the Aki Community Center where a nutritious meal will be served and activities and informational presentations will be provided. Over the phone intake is available to Tribal Elders interested in participating in this important and beneficial event. The intake process takes approximately 5 minutes to complete. When attending the first meal you will complete the registration process and will only have to do this one time. Other Services

  • Referral assistance in finding assistance organizations and/or agencies to assist with unmet needs.
  • Interdepartmental Referral Services that provided interdepartmental coordination and collaboration with tribal service departments when assisting members.
